When we first started, people laughed. They said spam musubi was just gas station food, something you throw together when your fridge is empty. What they didn't see were the sleepless nights, the maxed-out credit cards, and the months spent crying in front of a hot stove trying to recreate a memory.
me and My grandmother used to make traditional Japanese and original spicy glaze from scratch. It wasn't just sugar and soy sauce—it was a labor of love that took hours to simmer down into a rich, glossy lacquer. When she passed, that recipe was the only thing I had left of her. I wanted to share that warmth with the world, mixing one of the most iconic Hawaiian comfort flavors with our homemade, iconic Japanese glaze.
